    Are continuances granted for a summons for a judgement... i.e ( seeking legal representation,etc.. ) ?

    Sure.

    I don't know if YOUR judge will grant you one, and I don't know how you're going to make your motion... But, assuming you do it right, and the judge isn't a jerk, and there aren't things that I don't know about, he should grant it. But, in court, there isn't an ALWAYS.
