    Job hunting in general
As a convicted felon from almost 17 yrs ago I still can't get a decent job with a decent company. My record cannot be exponged or sealed and when asked I do not lied about it.
Is there a way to change the law on expongement after a certain amount of time after the time served so long as there have been no other incidents?
I have thought to start a website to contact with like minded individuals to change the laws and maybe including the ACLU to help. Does this sound like a good idea? This might not help in my life time but maybe would help in the next generation of felons to give them the chance I haven't been afforded. It sucks that after I served my time, I'm still paying for it!
    Thanks,

Some employers only ask the question "Have you been convicted of a felony less than 7 years ago". Some ask stating 10 years. It all depends upon what kind of company you are applying to what question is asked. Some ask "Have you ever been convicted of a felony". You'll just have to keep trying and filling out more applications.

Also why can your record not be explunged, since most can after 10 or 12 years. And while I may sound really mean, there are people who have their own companies, are company presidents, are police officers and in all sort of jobs with felonies, many not as old as yours.

Have you gotten additional educations, job training, technical school,

In the State of Florida, there are certain convictions that are not expunged or sealed period. Lucky me mine was one of them. I've spoke to lawyers and the same holds true. As for starting my own business, I've tried that, it's not my best field of expertise. Besides I would rather work for someone else and have them offer the benefits. I'd prefer to go home and not have to think about the job as opposed to owning a business.
    Thanks for the input!
