    Toilet smell
We just moved into a 2 story house about 4 months ago and we are starting to notice a smell in the downstairs master bedroom toilet. The toilet is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a door, so there is not shelving or sinks in there that could be the problem. It has gotten so bad that the bedroom is smelling like a sewer. Please help.

Is there a bubble or a gurgle in the bowl when something drains? Tom

I'm not exactly what you mean by that. Can you explain a little better? Sorry.

Bubble= A burst of air caused by the toilets flush hitting a partial clog and bouncing back sending a bubble of air ahead of it.
Gurgle= The sound heard when air is being drawn back through the trap seal by vacume caused by a blocked vent.

    Cheers, Tom

I really don't recall either one of those things occurring.

Perhaps the wax seal has ruptured and letting sewer gas escape. To check this the toilet will have to be pulled. Regards, Tom
