    Deeds to house gone missing
    :confused: what do I do if my mums deeds to the house have gone missing, I have 4 sisters who all say that they haven't seen them but after my dads death in2003 my mum an I sorted the tin box out and they were there.

    Those are just copies anyway, the actual deed ( as long as it was legally recorded) is at the court house. So just go to the court house and get a new copy. The one on file at the court house is considered the legal binding deed, until replaced.

    Go to the County Recorder's Office and get another copy for your records. It will probably cost a dollar for the copy.

    Hmm - must depend upon where you live. I have the actual original Deed to my house with all the stamps and seals on it, returned to me after filing.
