    Garnish wages/ Tennessee
What are the steps to garnish someone's wages who has a court order to pay you in the state of Tennessee?

So by court order, do I assume you mean you have already received a judgement against them ?

Then you file a order for garnishment in that same court, you will list the name of the company and address where they work, that place of business is then served the garnishment, and they must withhold the money from their check.

If you know of where they bank, you can also seek an attachment of money in their bank account.

Just something to keep in mind. If the person is already being garnished, or having child support withheld, this could hinder your ability to get as much from each check as you might think. There are limits as to how much of the persons wages are subject to garnishment. These limits vary by State and County.

If this is a judgment, and this person has any personal property of any real value, you may also have the option of getting the county sheriff to levy said personal property to be sold at auction and the proceeds applied to the judgment.

    Good luck!
