Why is it so hard to put my 9 1/2 month old baby to sleep
I have a 9 1/2 month old baby boy who has been really easy to put to sleep he used to go to sleep on his own then he went through the stage of wanting me to put him to sleep then he got out of that habit and now he just won't do either he only has an hour at 10 in the morning and 1/2 hour at 2 in the afternoon and that's a little bit of a struggle to put him to sleep then he doesn't go to bed until 8.30 and usually he is asleep within seconds but the last week its been a nightmare and no its not teething or any sort of pain what can I do to help him or what is wrog with him...

I have a little girl who is now two. We had a few odd weeks like that.. although you can't see any teeth it still could well be teething.

Try giving him a nice warm bath an hour before bedtime.

    Hope this helps.

Well he has a bath an hour before bed every night it used to relax him a lot I looked in his mouth and he is getting more teeth down the bottom this will be teeth no 7 and 8 but its relly weird my gut is telling me that its not his teeth because he isn't waking during the night its just really hard to put him to sleep all the time like is he getting his afternoon sleep to late like should I make it earlier or what could it be if its not his teeth which I don't think it is...

Humm I'm not sure mate.. If he isn't crying then it can't be anything serious. If he is only having half an hour around 2ish then it shouldn't really effect his bedtime at 8ish.

Maybe his sleeping pattern has just changed.

You could try a musicial toy which connects to the side of the cot, my daughter has one and it soothes her off.

If he is crying to just come out of his cot, and there is nothing wrong with him, then just leave him.
If you have previously got him out, then he is not settleing as he knows you come and get him.

If he is tired and rightly be the sounds of it he is, then leave him to cry.. he'll soon drop off. Its not cruel if you know he is just after you, He'll soon realise your not coming in and go to sleep. Crying will only make him more tired anyway.

I do it wilth my little one when she plays up, if she's over tired.. If she stands up I go in lie her down and walk away, without speaking.

Obviously keep an ear out, and pop in every so often to make sure he is OK.

Also baby feeds off mommy's moods.. if mommy is stressed then baby can notice.

Try and keep your head up Chick.

Well he learnt to pull himself up in standing position a couple of weeks ago so yes he stands up in his cot all the time and that's what I do I go in there and lay him back down put as soon as I walk out his back up there crying he nos how to get back down but he won't and I do just let him cry but he crys for an hour or more and still is awake its like he is getting too much sleep he has done it before when he was about 6-7 months old and I shortend his day sleeps and then he was fine after that . That's why I'm asking whether it would be that he is having his aternoon nap too late or just iff he is getting too much sleep again like should I give him an hours sleep alday like only give him a sleep at like 12.30 after his lunch for an hour so until like 1.30 its so confusing??
