Trying to move a basement shower drain
How can I best move a shower drain of existing cast Iron about 6 inches? Can I join pvc drain into middle of existing cast iron? I have already broken through the concrete and exposed the pipe connected to a J-Trap to a 7 inch straight piece that went to the Plastic PVC Drain. Please help!

Yes, you can cut the cast iron back from the trap far enough to convert to PVC using a shielded coupling,(see image)and install a 45 degree elbo to move to the desired location. You will then have PVC from the coupling to the drain. Good luck, Tom
