I have been on several different birth control pills over the course of the last 3 years. Many of which made me bleed irregularly.

(1) TriNessa {the generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen®} made me totally irregular
(2) MonoNessa {Therapeutically equivalent to Ortho-Cyclen®} was better but I got my periods about a week or so early
(3) The last pill I was on Kariva was probably the best as far as regular bleeding is concerned.

I have been off birth control for a few months now and want to get back on it. I am considering NuvaRing but thought I would check out with you guys to see if you had any comments or suggestions about it (or any other type of birth control). Thanks!!

NuvaRing is the same as the pill, however, the way the hormone is delivered is via mucous membranes versus oral.

If you are having bleeding issues it is possible that you may not be able to use a hormonal form of birth control. Have you considered the copper IUD?

Are there any side effects to having one inserted? I have never heard of a "copper" IUD, only IUDs in general. Is there a difference?

There is a difference. The copper IUD does not contain any hormones. Basically it makes the uterus a hostile place for a fertilized egg to implant. Then there is the Merena IUD, but it does contain hormones.

If you are not having luck with the pills, there is a good chance that you may have a problem with any hormonal form of birth control.
