How do I download and install the software?

HP Deskjet D1330 Series Printers -  Obtaining and Installing the Software and Drivers in Microsoft Windows

Download and save it to your desktop -- turn off your off your computer

Hook up printer to computer -- most use usb connection -- and give it power

Turn on your computer and see if it detects new hardware -- and install drivers

If it doesn't detect new hardware go to START ----> SETTINGS ---->CONTROL

PANEL ----> Printers ----> ADD PRINTER -- Install drivers -- Questions??

    Teressa,

Is this a fresh install? (Did you just purchase the printer and now actually think it should work?)

To begin with, look for a pamphlet named "Quick Start" also the owner's manual. These will assist you, because it provides an A -B -C step to the install.

Normally, the last thing you do is plug the printer into the PC. Step one, usually has you install the printer's CD into the PC and has you follow along step by step.

Step two, is a stand-a-lone printer verification test. You follow the directions to unpack, and set up the printer. YOU DO NOT MAKE THE CONNECTION To the PC.

Set up and test the printer. Make sure that the alignment is set properly and that the printer can print a menu settings or test pages without being connected to the PC.

Step three is were all your prayers, doubts and fears come together to cause anxiety, and suffering.

Turn the power off on the printer, plug the USB (my assumption) into the PC then turn the printer on.

The first message on the screen should tell you that "New Hardware has been found." Now you can use the list of drivers plopped onto the screen by the PC or you can click the "Have Disc button" and use the driver on the CD as the initial load.

Once that's done, open your control panel, select printer's and faxes, find the new printer, click "Properties" on the new printer and select "Print test page".

I readable spots come out on the correct printer, then you are done. If they do not, please re-post to this item with information on what happened or did not happen.
