How long do you have to wait until you can file child abandonment?

Failure to provide any support for a child for a period of 30 days will, in some states, give rise to a criminal warrant for abandonment. You have to go to a magistrate and swear that you have received no support for 30 days in order for the warrant for arrest to issue. This may not be the best way to go because it is a criminal case; the remedies available in a civil case may be greater.
