    Pre-school involvement in competitive sports?
I have a four year old son who loves sports. And wants to join a team. I want him to be involved in something that will keep him happy and active but I'm worried about the safety risks involved. I'd really like to hear opinions from people who are for it as well as those who are against it so I can make a good decision on the matter.

You CAN'T wrap your children up in cotton wool for their entire lives.
Remember real life isn't a bed of roses and children MUST learn to accept defeat along with success.

Ah, my son loved soccer at that age, he is now almost 6 and still LOVES the sport. I don't know where you live, but here in the states we have AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization).

They play in age groups appropriate for their ages and are taught moves appropriate for their ages.

As parents, we love it. It promotes a sense of teamwork (the smaller teams don't score games) and everyone is a winner, as well as a sense of self-worth to the kiddos.
