How do I turn on my 2000 Civic factory (oem) alarm ?
    Here's my problem:

" ALARM DOES NOT WORK BUT LOCKS DO! "

1)Doors lock and unlock when buttons are pressed on remote control.
2)Doors lock with a beep* and unlocks with clicks*.
3)Horn honks when panic button is pressed and held for 5-10 seconds.
4)But when doors are locked, no honking or sound is activated after tires are kicked. *Supposedly, alarm should set off.

PLEASE HELP. Maybe a "How to turn on and off" basic alarm for 99-00 would help.

NO OWNERS MANUAL was provided with vehicle. :(

The security alarm system is armed automatically after the doors, hood, and trunk lid are closed and locked. For the system to arm, the ignition switch must be off, the key must be removed, and the security control unit must receive signals that the doors, hood, and trunk lid are closed and locked. The alarm can be disarmed at any time by unlocking either door with the key or the remote transmitter.

If one of the switches is misadjusted or there is a short in the system, the system will not arm. As long as the control unit continues to receive a ground signal, it senses that the vehicle is not closed and locked, and the system will not arm.

Conversely, a switch that is slightly misadjusted can sound an alarm for no apparent reason. In this case, a significant change in outside temperature, the vibration of a passing truck, or someone bumping into the vehicle could cause the alarm to sound.

Kicking the tires will likely not set off the alarm.

Once armed, the system sounds the alarm when any of these things occur:

    * A door is forced open
    * A door is unlocked without using the key or the remote transmitter
    * The hood is opened
    * The trunk is opened without using the transmitter
    * The audio unit is disconnected
    * The panic mode is activated

Try searching Google for a downloadable pdf of your car's manual.
    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. All procedures did not set the alarm on. I will be sure to search for a pdf on the owner's manual though.

Also, I believe the alarm is just turned off. If anyone knows how to turn it back on, please let me know. Again, I have a 2000 Civic Ex Automatic if that helps! THANKS!

That alarm that comes in that car is just a keyless entry system. It does not have alarm features like shock sensor or door triggers. You have to by an add on alarm system for it to become a full alarm, or by an aftermarket system.
