    Hair loss while breast feeding
I am a new mother to a 5month old infant. I'm solely breastfeeding and have experienced excessive hair loss in the last 2 months. What is the going on? I take a women's daily multi-vitamin as instructed by my OB/GYN. I was on Errin birth control but have since stopped. What can I do to reverse this problem?

So glad you are breastfeeding and have made it to 5 months--congratulations! My hair did the same after my first child was born. It went back to normal when he was between six and eight months. The hair loss is not related to breastfeeding.

From kellymom.com :: Does Breastfeeding Cause Postpartum Hair Loss?

"Postpartum hair loss is a normal - and temporary - postpartum change that is unrelated to breastfeeding. Most women will return to their usual hair growth cycle between 6 and 12 months after birth."

Follow the above link to a more in-depth explanation of what is happening to your hair. Kellymom is a great website. I used it for many breastfeeding issues.
