    Is %temp% a good idea
A friend of mine told me about a maintenance step that keeps his computer running faster. He does this on a regular basis with no problems.

He told me to click RUN, and enter %temp%, which opens a folder called TEMP. Then delete all the files in this folder.

Some of my files in this folder appear to be temp files, so that seems okay to delete, but others I'm not sure about. I wouldn't want to delete something critical.

    Is this a good idea?

    Is it safe?

Doesn't Disk Clean Up delete temp files? (I do this once a month)

    Thanks...

Yes Disc Cleanup performs that function. You wouldn't see any performance gains unless your hard drive was near %95 full capacity. I rarely clean out the temp folder manually, I use CCleaner every once in a while.

Yes Disk Clean can clean up the Temp files and All that running %Temp% does is open the folder used by Windows to store temp files. You can safely delete any temp files that do not have a current date. However, I doubt if it would have an appreciable affect on performance.

    Thanks.

So is there any RISK in deleting files in the Temp Folder that don't have a current date or don't say .tmp (such as mso6D.wmf or logger.log or MSForms.exd)?
