Okay the thing is..is that I'm leaving for marine bootcamp on september 8th. And My boyfriend leaves for coast guard bootcamp on september 25th.
He wants to get married so bad and I want to but I dont know if I'm too young. I don't feel like its a mistake and I just dont want my family to be like .


Obviously since I'm asking this it does mean I'm not QUITE ready. But by August I probably would be.
I'm 99.9% sure I want to marry him. But I can't decide if I want to before or after bootcamp.
I just want to know, how young is too young? :confused:

How long have you two been together.. would your parents be OK with you two marrying? After marriage and after the boot camp, how will you guys support yourselves?

I feel that your boyfriend wants to get married to ensure the relationship past the boot camp... but in my opinion, if you guys love one another and he is "the one" then you guys will still be together after everything. What's the rush?

Just under a year.
.. No. Our parents would flip a lid.

The military will give us housing and its like a 9 to 5 job. And I get paid every 7th and 15th of the month. And its not exactly a small check. My MOS pays pretty well.

Just under a year... in my opinion is not long enough to know a person. Truly. I've been in relationships for... 3 years, 2 years, and 3 years... and after it ended, I realized that I didn't really know them enough to marry them. Of course, some people get married after 4 months and they live happily ever after... but I'm just saying.

Marriage without the support from the family is rough.. in fact, it's almost ridiculous.

The military will give you guys housing... for him too? What about car payment? Insurance? Groceries? Health insurance? What if you guys have a kid? Will your check + his check cover all those things?

There's no rush here. Take longer to know each other, mature as individuals and see where life takes you. You are both heading into an exciting life in the military and now is not the time to be held down by further obligations and worry. Enjoy the time you have and head into bootcamp with a clear mind. :)

Yeah they'll give us a house. Insurance and stuff is all paid for by the government. We're government property. Our checks will cover everything.. plus I have a couple thousand stored away from emergencies. And the govt will pay for schooling if I decide I want to go to college.

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to end up doing cause I'm not 100% sure. And he's kind of pushing it on me and I feel bad cause I have a different excuse every time. I just wanted to know how long people thought was too long.

Well I think that as long as you love him and you know it's real between you two that marrige is a good thing, and it's even better if your mom and dad think he is okayy. And even if you were too young you can still marry him with parents concent... at least for here in Canada.

And also you could date him before or after bootcamp if you want to because if your not absolutely sure you love him then trying it before might be a good option.. sure the pain of distance will really be known in the whole thing.. but distance is a chalenge and if you really love him, you can do it.

About 19 is old enough if you get married first you want to ask your parents if you even can get married
