I have a Goodman GSH130241A Heat Pump, Atrane TWv024140A0 Air Handler, and a White-Rodgers Mfg 1F58-72 thermostat. I've had 2 highly experienced companies out working on our system. The system will heat or cool great if you disconnect the wire going to the reversing valve, depending on if you want heat or cool. They both first said the defrost board was bad. They have each changed it. Still to no correct results. The one replaced wire jacket to out side unit. Right now to have heat I believe he has the reversing valve disconnected. Also they both have said heat strips are not coming on. Could they have something wired wrong or is there a compatabliity problem with the thermostat and units, or is it a simple wiring problem? One of them has also called Goodman for tech for Help. Thank Bearybuzy1

I believe you have a low voltage wiring problem. Above are the manual and a extra wiring diagram. I would go over the entire low voltage system. You should not have to disconnect a wire for it to work. Could be the reversing valve is being fed by the wrong area of the thermostat. Since we are not there you or a company will have to check this out. If you paid the companies to check out your system they should come back to take care of this if you paid them to start with.

I've seen a similar problem and the seasoned HVAC guy couldn't seem to solve it. Turned out that months after a commercial remodel a Heat Pump developed a similar problem. The t-stat wire got shorted in a metal stud. I was able to troubleshoot it by disconnecting the tstat base and the wires at the HP and checked for shorts. He, erroneously thought it was the stat.

Running a new t-stat wire fixed it.

I mentioned the wiring but I wanted to add that you can wire the reversing valve two different ways on that thermostat. I used to let sparky run all my power and low voltage. I would let sparky land the power but never the low voltage. To many thermostats ( heat anticipators) up in smoke. LOL

If someone connected the reversing valve wire at the thermostat to the "B" terminal instead of the "O" terminal you would run into this problem. If this unit runs in heat mode with no voltage to the solenoid then it would need to be wired to the "O" at the thermostat. Hope this is helpful, Mike
