    Wallet Protection Program
In your opinion, is this worth 2.99 a month for my spouse and me?

A one-call solution that gives me convenience is my wallet is ever lost or stolen.

They notify all my card issuers to cancel cards and, if I wish request replacements. My credit file will be monitored by the 3 major credit bureaus for 90 days and we'll alert me of certain changes that may indicate fraud.

    Thanks in advance.

I keep a list of all my credit cards so that in case my wallet is stolen I can notify all of the card companies right away. As long as you make an effort to contact them once you know your wallet is missing, your maximum exposure is $50/card, and in fact most companies will cover all fraudulent charges as long as you let them know in a timely manner. As for monitoring the credit agencies - you can do that yourself for free at least once/year at each of the three major bureaus. So whether the $2.99/month cost is worth it to you is basically a question of what makes you sleep better at night. One other thing - under no circumstance should you be carrying a social security card in your wallet, or anything else that would make it easier for a thief to ruin your life.

If you have a scanner just do the following: put all your cards on the scanner face down and make a scan at a high resolution; now flip them over and do the same for the other side of the cards. If you lose your wallet you mau need to make a few phone calls but you've saved money and you don't have to worry about secirity issues (i.e. having that card service knowing all your card numbers).

If you use Quicken or MS Money, you can keep a record of all your cards and contact numbers in there. Is it worth $2.99/mth to make one phone call instead of several? Personally I don't think so, but it might depend on how many cards you have.
