Wiring issues from Janitrol to Hunter Model 44360
I am trying to replace my old thermostat which is a Janitrol HPT 18-60 which is configured as follows

    Y-Yellow
    G-Gree
    R-Red
    O-Orange
    W2- White
    E-Black
    C-Blue

The new thermostat is a Hunter, Model 44360 and states to label your wires as follows

    RH - RH, R, VR or 4 (24 volt)
RC - RC, VC (24 volt cool)
    G - G or F (fan)
Y/O - Y, C, or M (air conditioning compressor) or O (reversing valve operating in cool mode)
W/B - W or H (Heating) or B (Reversing Valve operating in Heat mode)
Y1 - (Heat pump compressor) single statge heat pumps ONLY
And DO NOT CONNECT A "COMMON" WIRE

It also states that if you are using a 5 wire installation, to remove the jumper between RH and RC.

    Well I have a 7 wires! I think that

    RH-Red
    G-Green
    Y/O - Yellow
    W/B - White

But that leaves me with RC and Y1 and a blue, black and orange wires and one of them must be a common and not connected at all.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need a heat pump thermostat. The one you have will not work.Take the junk hunter back and get a Honeywell heat pump stat.

So I was told that Hunter is junk in the last 5 minutes and packaged it back up after the first time I was told that it was junk and wouldn't work. So where do you get the other?

If you visit the Hunter website they show all their stats. I think hvac is saying that particular brand is not one of the better brands. You could just change your question a bit and ask him or other for their advice on best brands to buy, he is saying Honeywell and that is what I've used for years.

Honeywell is available at Home Depot and Lowe's I believe. If necessary call around.

You will be much better off and they do have a 1-800 number form free technical service for hook up.
