Yesterday I turned on my garbage disposal unit and heard a humming sound. I immediately turned it off and proceeded to clear the unit on any debris which might have jammed the blades (it happened before). I then turned the unit on again and heard nothing. But it worked fine the night before. Any suggestions.

Look for a reset button that might be located on the bottom. I've worked with a couple of units designed that way. Also, if it is plugged in under the sink, the GFCI (if there is one) might need to be reset on the outlet.
