I'm having a problem with IRS too! A couple of years ago, our taxes were done correctly, but a former employer reported our taxes incorrectly. So... the IRS is coming after us for nearly 75K. Well, the IRS doesn't give a hoot about us, they just want their money. And then maybe they will discuss it with us AFTER we pay them. So, they want our house, but we have very little equity. We have written them, called them, faxed them and still get threatening letters from them. We have an attorney which we can not afford trying to fix this problem, but it looks like we have to pay the debt and then file a claim against the IRS to get our money back. In the mean time, I'm afraid our wages will be hit also! It looks like we will be moving, if they hit our wages, we can't afford our house! We have four kids in college and they each have a junk car that we bought them. One car is worth over $1,000 (not much more) and the other three are worth about $800. Can the IRS take the our kids cars if they are in our names?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

They can take any assets you have. Doesn't mean they will. They are unlikely to take cars worth so little.
