Will I burn down my house?
I am installing a sauna, and I hit the new sauna wire with the blade of my reciprocating saw. It damaged the covering of the wire and partially cut one of the small copper wire strands inside. It's a red and black inside with a ground. Each has 7 copper strands in them. The wire says NMD 90 300 volts. Can I still attach and use this wire as is, or will I burn my house down? I just wrapped it with electrical tape for now.

    What do I do?

    Thanks all.

With power off, and if damage is near Panel or near Spa, then cut where damage is. Run wires into box, then run short wiring to complete, use a cover on the new junction box, and be sure to ground box.

NO. I replied to you and didn't hear back, so before I re-open my ceiling to put in a box at the damaged point, I wanted to get a second opion or a complete one. Thanks.

Charliepia, If you responded to the post, you probably would have gotten a faster response, plus others learn from your problem. If everyone Did Private message, little could be gained from this site.
Did you get your problem solved?
If the damage is on wire that you can't get slack, you may need 2 junctions and wire to connect between the 2.

Yeah, there's a great big link at the top of the forum that says NOT to send your questions directly to experts via PM. Post them.

When you replied to TK in the other thread, you didn't ask any follow up questions. What did you expect him to reply?

TK is the premier electrical expert on this site. There is no second opinion to him. The rest of us merely guess and offer input.

Charliepia, Thanks, there are others here you could trust, and are competent.
