If you are not a co-applicant, but are an authorized card holder are you still responsible for the balance on a credit card after the account holder passes away??

No, the estate is responsible. The assests of the person who owes will be sued to pay it, before it would be paid out to others.

Currently it can be shown as a bad debt on your credit report. That law is changing but is not in effect yet.
