How do I prime my water pump?
    Hello
I live in a rental property with one water source that supplies 2 units. Our power went out today and now the water does not work. The pump will need to be primed now to get the water running again, but I'm not sure how to do that. I cannot get in touch with the landlord right now and I know I can do this myself with the right instructions. I would really appreciate some info.

    Thank You:)

Assuming that this is a jet pump (above ground), there will be a plug on top of the pump housing, or sometimes it will be a pressure gauge. At any rate, turn off the pump (turn off breakers), unscrew the plug/pressure gauge, pour in water until full, replace plug, and turn on pump. Not difficult.

    Good luck.

Great advice by jlisenbe. Follow it and you won't go wrong. Please allow me to add a little to it. When you pour water inti the hole on top of the impeller cage you should be able to fill it up to overflowing. If you can't then you may have a faulty check/foot valve that allows the prime to flow back down into the well. Good luck, Tom
