What is definition for modem? And can you explain to me about the relationship between networking and modem... what the types,characteristic,and another thing that related to modem...
A modem is a Modulator - Demodulator. It takes the digital signal from the computer modulates it to an anolog stream of ones and zeros then the receiving modem demodulates it from the ones and zeros back to digital. There is no real connection between networking and modems other than their use to dial into a "hub" or central location for which to connect to a network . (ie. Dialing into aol) most modems to day are of 56k , which means they can send and reciev (modulate demodulate) at a rate of 56000 bits per second. Hope this helps! If so please rate my answer. Thanks!
