    Underweight?
Hey, I'm 14, and I am about 5 foot 6. I think, compared to most people in my year at school that I am too skinny and underweight. I'm 8 stone, but I don't know what I should be. I done one of those online weight calculators and it said I should be ideally about 132 pounds.
I know the obvious answer for this is to eat more, but I really do eat lots. I have full meals and lots of snacks. Is there anything in particular I could eat to help me put on some weight. A lot of people have told me I have a high metabolism as well by the way.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks :)

Sometimes we just can't change things.

I myself am below the scale: 6 foot, 150 pounds sopping wet.

When I joined the Armed Forces I was about 125, and they put me on a 5000 calorie a day diet to get me up to their scale, but after 4 months I gained nothing... so they just left me alone.

Now, 20 years later I'm 25 pounds heavier.

Bottom line: If you're eating healthily and taking in the right amount of calories and not gaining weight - and desire to - your best bet is to work out to increase muscle mass... and toss in a couple banana milkshakes a day.

... or if taste is not an issue, there are suppliments you can mix with drinks to help gain mass - available at GNC, and other suppliment specialty stores.

Well Im 29 years old and Im also 5 foot 6 and I weigh about 120. I have been up it the 130s and it did not look pretty. I say eat healthy and exercise with some small weights and that should help.

Thanks for your replies. I don't know much about calories or if my intake should be different for my age, but how many do you think I should take in a day, to put on some weight. Thanks

Yeah I always have a breakfast, my dinner in school, and a big tea. I have loads of snacks and cereal before I go to bed. I think I must have a high metabolism

I play footy once every few weeks, but I walk home from school every day, that takes me 45 minutes. We don't have a car either so I usually walk everywhere. Not much heavy exercise/weights though.

I know how you feel.. I've been struggling my whole life trying to gain weight. And damn isn't it hard. I'm a 26 year old female weighing 96lbs. And all I do is eat eat eat. We do have very high metabolism. In which MOST people would just love to have.. but in our case - goodness its so frustrating. :) A lot of doctors told me it may be a hormone imbalance. I've always had problem with irregular periods as well. You? I unfortuntitly haven't found anything to help. But most peole say to start building muscle mase and to eat 500-1000 more calorie then the usual 2500 per day. I'm still working on that.. lol but if you find anything that help let me know. I've been underweight my whole life.. I think the most I ever weighed was 103 in 8th grade now I'm back to 96lb..
    Good Luck hun
