ITIN for my H-4 wife and my daughter
    Hi
    Greetings

It is the tax season folks . I am on H-1b I came on Jan 2007, my wife and daughter is joining with me on April 2007. My wife was here till end of dec on H-4 and went to India. She might not come back before June 2008. I have her passport copies and the I-94. I have the copies of the passport pages along with the departure record.

As I understand, for applying ITIN (W-7 form) for my spouse and my daughter I have to submit notarized passport copies.

What are my options? Did I need to apply Itin for my daughter also. Her age is 4 years

    Thanks in advance.

If you file jointly with your wife, then, yes, you need to submit a W-7 for your daughter as your wife. You cannot claim her as a dependent without an ITIN.

Yes, notarized photocopies of the passports are the best way to go, but NOT the only way. There are other identification forms that can be used.
