I had similar problem with my Kenmore washer. I found the door (lid) safety switch was not working. I jumpered out the switch and It worked. Here is how it did it.
1. Unplug the power from the washer.
2. Locate the door switch. This switch has two wires on it. Temporarily bypass the switch using wire nut or jumper to short the two wire on the switch together.
3. Test the washer.
If it works then replace the switch ( I just shorted out the switch and bypass this safety feature. Not recommended )
I hope this helps.
