Chalking will not seal to tub and surround
We have remodeled the bathroom. A new tub and surround were put in. the tub is metal and the surround is thin like paneling (maybe a pressed board with a white surface) not sure what it is called purchased at Lowe's bathtub surround. The problem is that the caulking will not seal, it was fine for awhile and now it has moved away from the tub and leaks. The surround seems to not lay flush with the tub due to the lip on the tub. So there is a little gap between them is that why it won't seal? How do I correct this with out having to tear down and start over?

Lowe's or home depot sells a ready made caulking strip that may help you in this situation. It is quite thick... here I would remove the old caulking, use some rubbing alcohol to clean/evaporate any excess moisture, and then install the new ready strip caulking (comes rolled up in a package).

I am afraid that is all I can recommend at this time... besides starting over again... let us know how you make out!
