Heat Pump runs, blower does not
My Furnace/Heat Pump seems to be working incorrectly. There are times when the Heat Pump outside will run continuously while the thermostat says "heating" however, the blower doesn't come on inside. The coil coming into my furnace unit gets very hot. I have to turn off the unit completely for about 10 minutes and then it will blow air through the ducts. Why does this happen and what if it happens and I'm not home to turn the unit off?

Sounds like you have a blower problem, could be a relay, wire connection or the motor, does it run continuously if you turn the fan switch to "ON" at the thermostat?

No, sometimes the blower doesn't come on at all - even if I change the fan to "on". It will just continue to say "heating" until I turn the whole unit off and then on again.

Try changing the thermostat. Get one from China-Mart and take it back if that does not fix the problem (90 day return policy). Be sure to label the wires before unwiring old thermostat.
