    Speedometer bouncing
    Hey I have a renault clio mk1 1995.

I have a problem with my speedometer, it seems to be bouncing up and down as I am driving so I don't have an accurate reading, I can't tell what speeds I am travelling until I reach up to 70mph then it will stop shaking/bouncing and be fine all the way through to whatever speeds. But up to 70mph the speedometer needle is bouncing and shaking.

Does anybody else have this problem? Or does anyone know how to fix this please. Thanks

Andy, I have no personal experience with that new of a Renault, but maybe I can still help.
Do you know if the speedo is cable driven or is the vehicle equipped with a speed sensor on the transmission?
If it's cable, I'd say the cable is binding. If it's electronic, the instrument cluster/guage is the likely culprit.

Hi thanks for the quick reply.
I found out that my speedometer is cable driven, I am going to take it to a mechanic tomorrow now to see if he can change the cable and reinstall a new one.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly.
    Cheers :D :D :D

I think you need a new speedometer cable.
