    89 honda dx won't start
So I have an 89 honda hatch that won't start... it cranks over but just doesn't start. My buddy and I have been trying to get my car to run for the past 3 days, but so far no luck. I bypassed the main relay, checked for spark, replaced fuel filter, and still nothing... anybody have any suggestions? All help is greatly appreciated... thanks

Running through the tests, outlined in Sections A and B below, should get your hatchback back on the road in no time:

So I checked the codes on the ecu and it showed codes 1 and 14... that makes it the o2 sensor and iac... but would that really make it not start?

Not likely. What are your answers to the 3 basic diagnostic questions? I don't think you can bypass the main relay and get your car to start. You need to replace the main relay or you are doomed!

Well I found some website that showed me how to bypass the main relay... then I saw that the iac had some messed up wiring, so I fixed that... now the computer is flashing code 20... the electrcal load detector... what does that do?

ELD code likely means your under-hood fuse box needs replacing. I don't believe that problem is serviceable.

Do you think that if I actually rewire in the main relay it would start? Or maybe I should just go get a chevy? Lol just kiddin...

With the main relay installed, along with the original wiring harness, the car should be able to run again. If you decide to go that route, follow the tests in Sections A and B below:

Be sure to test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Well I did some of my crazy, but good, wiring and my little car runs wonderful now... even better than before since I put in that new fuel filter... I still have that eld code, but I'm not even going to worry about it until it really starts going crazy... thank you very much for the help
