I have a water heater that is 54"X54". I have been unable to find insulation that size. Where can I find it?

Is your heater in a heated room, is it gas or electric? How is the house heated?

Hi Mary susan... Hey, why are you insulating the tank.. Most heaters really do not require an insulating blanket like they did years ago... if your heater is 10-15 years old or less then you should not require an insulating blanket.

See, water heaters have been so over insulated nowadays that any heat loss through the tank is considered negligible today. In fact, the greatest heat loss from a water heater today is going to be the first 10' of hot water pipe coming out of your heater... YOU could insulate this pipe for a distance... that will save some money... not much, but some.

Good point MASS. That's where I was going with my question if the heater is in a heated room. I can see insulating if its in a garage or crawl but not if its ina living space.

It is a gas heater. In my research I have read that even though it is insulated it will still have some slow gradual heat loss. The water heater is in an enclosed area of the garage which is not heated.
