Engine shuts off after running a few minutes -- the battery gauge is in the high + side when it shuts off. After a 5 or so minute time it starts and then shuts off again .

Is the battery gauge voltage or current? Guessing, you might have a charing system problem. The ignition might shut off when the voltage is too high.

Could be premature armature magneto failure.
