I hate to be the bearer of bad news but about the only way to get it anywhere close to your brown is doing a color stripper which willl leave your hair probably an orangest color with absolutely damage. I don't know how long you have had the color in your hair but it is possible to just use powder laundry detergant with a mixture of shampoo it is as well harsh on the hair but is lightens the color depending on how long it has been in your hair... But the best advice I can give you is simply this you are not going to get to a excat color you desire but the best opition and least damaging is... go to a beauty supply store (not walmart, cvs, anything like that.) Sallys is the place that I use... Find the closest color to the color you desire remotely lighter than the black of coruse if you want a lighter brown don't choose a dark brown rememeber that you are coloring over a black. It is important that you use a 40 volume developer regardless of what the color calls for because it is the highest lift possible... because black has a red tone to it regardless of if it shows or not you need to also add a tube of unred to the color! I hope that this helps, but considering your options this is your best bet! And I am sorry that this isn't excatly a quick answer!Best of luck! I almost forgot don't forget to get a very deep conditioning you will need this especially with curly hair!Leave the treatment on for now less than 30 minutes if at all possible find a way to heat it

Sweetie, you will need to have a color correction done. Please do not try to fix it yourself. If you don't want to strip the color, a hair stylist can use a different technique. Since you have blonde highlights in your hair, he/she will most likely mix a hair color with the right base to tint-back your highlights. Then the stylist will use a higher peroxide developer with the selected hair color to achieve your desired color.

After you finally figure out what to do regarding getting your natural color back, I recommend you use L'Oreal "Hair Repair" for a least your next 3 washes without using conditioner after applying this. And do not rinse out! This will help restore your hair back to it's natural texture, specially if you have curly hair. I have curly hair and severely damaged it and this product really helped... I hope you get your natural back.. good luck! :)
