Kenmore Series 80 elec dryer - no heat
This is a 5 or 6 year old Kenmore Series 80 Super Capacity Plus Electric Dryer. I'm not sure how much you can help. I have no experience with this stuff and don't have the tools or knowledge to check electrical connections. This drier and sister washer have been nothing but trouble for 5 years. The drier provides no heat on any setting. Everything else runs properly - clothes tumble but no heat at all.

Are there any simple steps that I can do myself with my limited knowledge to at least eliminate certain issues. If it is something like the thermostat or a switch that needs replacing, is that something I can do myself?

If you can handle 240 electrcity safely check the supply leads to the elements. If you aren't getting power to the elements you will likely need to call Sears for repair. Many of their dryer have a small breaker or fusible link that can not be reset by you. Kind of dumb if you ask me but I'll bet they love keeping their repair folks busy.

If you have no tools, best ot call for service. It will be cheapest. May cause more problems if you have no knowledge or tools
