    Smelly Kitchen sink
Hi, my mother's sink has a very strong smell coming out of it. She has tried, baking soda, hot water, desinfectant. And the smell is still there. Can you help? Thanks and greatly appreciated.

You can try taking the J trap off, dumping it and cleaning it.

KISS gives good advice but it may be rancid junk on the pipe walls. Mom tried some good chemicals just not in the right combination. Mix 1/2 cup baking soda with 1/2 cup table salt and dump into the drain. Add a cup of vinegar and allow to bubble and soak overnight followed by a big bucket of really hot water tomorrow morning.
