Discharge of Student Loans due to Disability
    Hi,
I have been determined by social security to be totally and permanently disabled. I have a student loan and have filed to have this discharged. I was recently informed that I was denied and now owe a monthly payment that is impossible. I thought that social security was exempt from being claimed by debt collectors. Also, do I have any recourse to fight their ruling? It seems ridiculous that social security approved my disability but my federal student loans do not recognize this. HELP! Thanks for any input!

I have had my student loans forgiven for the same situation you described.. just be persistent and file again and again until you are approved... eventually you will get your exemption. They cannot take your disability.. contact you local Office for social security and disability they should be able to give you more information.
