    Can't download software/files
    Hi there!

Ok, I am not too hot with these machines so I'm seeking a little bit of help!

My story goes a little something like this...

I have a six month old laptop which runs on windows vista. A while back I managed to be lucky enough to get a trojan on it, so I restored it back to a certain date before I got the infection.

Since then I have had probs when downloading files or downloading software for my PC. I tried to download the AVG anti virus software which took me forever and d ay as the file said it was downloading and gave me an estimated time, then when it had finished the download was nowhere to be seen!! I have done a full system search also for this. Eventually I got it to dowloand by some fluke of luck but ever since I can't dowload updated versions of winamp, itunes or any files (such as excel or word etc) from emails. This MAY have been the same but not as bad before the trojan but I'm not entirely sure!

    Help??

Buy yourself a copy of TrendMicro's PCcillan and install that. Why were you online without protection in the first place?

Oh sorry thought that was an anti virus thing! I'm not good with pcs and takes a little while to get my head around them. Woukd prefer a no-cost fix if there was one as pennies are very tight after xmas :-(

If not, then I shall do this come pay day when I can be mobile again!!

It is an A/V thing. I don't recommend Norton, and you need to be able install from a disk, not download. During the install, it should find the infections and remove them. Doing a System Restore doesn't remove the infection.

Oh I see... never thought about that! I thought that if I restored it would have got rid of it, so thanks for letting me know that.

I will purahcse the item you have mentioned and hopefully that will fix it - I'm asuming trojan had something to do with it, the swine!! Hopefully it is as it will be fixed then!!

Thanks for your help Scott! :)
