    Labret-Monroe Piercing
I want A monroe done again.
    (I'm 14 btw)
The first time I did it myself.
My mum didn't really care cos it's my body and if I damaged it, then I'm going to hafta live with it.
So it swelled up after I pierced it by myself and I just immediately removed it just only a day later.
The piercing on me looks good, but I want to get it done minus the swelling.
I've already asked my mom about getting my lip done, but she said no.
But since a monroe piercing isn't too over the top crazy, I plan on asking my mum about it, my birthday is only 3 months away so I want it done by then... as a birthday gift yano?
But the problem is, what if she says flat out no?
Any good tips on how to convince her?

    Hey hun!

First I want to say, please please PLEASE, don't pierce yourself again! Anything you stick into your body needs to be sterilized with an autoclave, and unless you have one of those (which I doubt), don't stick anything in your skin. An unsterilized needle can potentially cause major problems. You don't know where that needle has been. And despite what everyone else may say, boiling it and/or putting it in an open flame will not sterilize it enough to put in your body.

There are a lot of questions on here about "how do I convince my parents if they say no". The simple answer is, if she says no, then deal with it. I know that sounds mean, but it is highly unlikely that anything you say will change her mind. I doubt that anyone on this website will tell you to say anything to her that will change her mind as well. You are her daughter, therefore she is in charge of your health and well being. If she does not see fit that you get a piercing, that is her decision. My best advice to you would be, if she says no, do not push the subject. From the experience of being 14 once, I can tell you that the more you push the subject, the less and less likely it will be that you get what you want, and plus you could make her mad. Respect your parents wishes, and if they wish for you to wait, then do so.

I also want to make a comment about this:

    Quote:

Any piercing you get will include swelling. A piercing is an open wound to your body, and open wounds cause swelling. You will not find any piercing that is "minus the swelling", so think long and hard before you get any piercing. If you are not ready to deal with swelling and mild pain or discomfort, it may not be a good idea for you to get a piercing.

Monroe piercing is meant to be similar to a beauty spot on the face. But the celebrity Monroe had it naturally on her face. Not necessary it suits everyone. One final piece of advice, don't be one of those people who tries to wear earring in your Monroe piercing. Earrings just don't work for Monroe piercings, and they look weird and hurt your mouth too. So stick with classical Monroe piercing jewelry, and you'll be good to go!
