    Rain Water Runoff?
Rain water runoff that collects on my front porch is routed to me ejector sewage pit instead of my sump pit. It seems to me like this would be against code? Any idea how I can get the Chicago IL plumbing codes to find out? I would rather be sure of my suspicions before I contact the builder.

    Thx comosum

Is it routed to your ejector pit via a pipe? If so it is definitely againist Chicago code. Curtain drains and rain gutters are not allowed to be connected to city sewer. That's why Chicago built their deep tunnel project over the last 30 years.

I don't know about Chicago but in my area it's against code,(and the law) to discharge, rain water runoff, AC condensate, sump pump discharge, Water softener discharge or anything that's not sewage or gray water.
The reason being that the disposal plant has to process everything that comes in a sewerage. It all comes down to the cost of operation. Regards, Tom

I suppose I'm now responsible for all of this. My place is about 4 years old now, do you think I should contact the builder?

If the builder built your house like this I would call them. It is not Chicago code and you could be held liable if they determine your are connected to the sewer.
