GFI Circuit Breaker will not reset
I have a GFI Circuit Breaker connected to my outdoor wiring. After a very heavy storm the power to my holiday lights blew. I attempted to throw the GFI switch, but it will not reset. Do I need to replace it or am I doing something wrong. Also if it needs to be replaced, how difficult a job is it?

    Thanks,

Unplug the "Christmas Lights" -- and try to see if you can reset the breaker...

This is important : PUSH it firmly to the ( OFF) position -- this resets your breaker

Flipping the breaker to the ( ON ) position does not reset it -- read above

GFI's are very sensitive and for good reason -- protect humans from shock...

A bulb setting in a puddle of water would trip it -- probably need to

Check light strings for damage -- breakers are designed to trip -- they will

Normally not need to be replaced... Breakers that are tripped and are reset numerous

Times are usually doomed to failure...

Like Biggsie says, unplug lights, turn all the way off, then all the way back on.
If that does not work, and nothing else is pluuged into any of the protected recepticles.
If you can work safe, And you can change a breaker.
I would remove the hot and neutral(load side) from GFI Breaker. Try to reset. If it does not, it is a bad breaker. If it does, one of the recepticles likely has resistance to ground.

Thanks for your help. It seems that my not to smart about circuit breakers was my only problem. I did as you instructed and went back to the circuit box and you were correct the switch was not completely off. Once I put it in the off position , it turned back on and everything seems fine. Thanks for all of your help.
