    Neutered dogs
 Can a Neutered dog still be capable of reproducing? How long does it take for a male to be safe when around breedable es in season ?

Once neutered, they are incapable of reproducing, although may still feel the urge to mount.

The sperm that is left may be viable for awhile... it is best to ask a vet to see when the dog's sperm is no longer fertile.

Mrsbonbon, once a dog is neutered, there can still be viable sperm left in the reproductive tract as bushg states. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for that sperm to die off. So, to be on the safe side, it is best to keep the male away from any females in heat for a few weeks after the neutering surgery is performed.
