    Credit card debt
I owe 6,000.00 to providian visa card. This debt is 6 years old I tried to make small payments but they wanted a lot more we never came to an a agreement and now I got a call from a lawyer telling me they will sue if I don't pay now. I need to know what can happen now? Can they take pay check? And if so what can I expect. I talked to the lawyer and he wants me to call him back to let him know how much I was able to get.

Thanks for any advise or feed back

They have to sue and win a judgement before they can garnish your paycheck or anything else. You may want to try to negotiate a payment plan with their attorney so it doesn't come to that.

Making the small payments is constantly "reopening the wound" renewing the staute of limitations, and promoting them to seek more. I'm in a horrid spot myself so I am no expert, but that's what I have recently read about paying on old debt, even a small payment is addmition on your part that more is owed and they will continue to hound you for more. Good luck
