    Lavatory pop up stopper
I had a new large Kohler sink installed in the bathroom. The pop up stopper can be twisted and pulled out. I've got the pivot rod piercing the eyelet of the stopper and I've tightened the retaining nut, but with minimal twist, the stopper just comes out of the drain. I would think that the pivot ball, if seated further back toward the clevis, would keep the stopper better connected, but this ball doesn't move.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Is your stopper like the one I show here?

If so, are you sure that you've got it oriented so that the hole itself is oriented nearest the back of the pipe where the rod goes through?

    Hi Debbie,

When we install lavatories in our new construction we never put the rod through the opening in the stopper. Instead we let it ride on the flat part.
When you tie the stopper down you can't remove it to clean rotting hair that catches on the rod. Leaving the stopper free on no way interferes with holding water in the bowl when you close it and just makes it more handy to service the lavatory. Of course tieing a stopper down is your choice since it really makes no difference in the operation. Good luck, Tom
