Okay, Im seventeen and I went for my first paptest yesterday. I have been having protected sex for almost a year with my boyfriend, (we were both virgins when we met). I have been on birth control for a year, the only problem is we've only used condoms once in a while. He has never gone inside of me EVER. But when I went to my paptest the doctor said my discharge was too thick. Is this anything to worry about? Im not sure because it was my first paptest. It wouldn't be an STD because we were both virgins and we've only been with each other, (I know this 100%. ) Does anyone know if this is serious and have you had this happen?

Get tested and wait to hear what the doctor says... People lie all the time... but test results don't.

First you can be pregnant even if he does not inside of you, the pull out method is not a birth control method, it merely makes it a little harder to get pregnant but all of the early fluid still has sperm in it, and you can very easy get pregnant. Ie no birth control is 100 percent.

And while yours may be, too many young boys or men have a little affair and never admit it, plus there can be many other infections caused by all sorts of things,

So what did you doctor believe it was, did they test you for anything?

I haven't heard of a doctor not performing a pap because of discharge being too thick... but I guess I wouldn't worry. All doctors have their preferences as far as how they'd like their tests to go. Your discharge is also thickest in the middle of your cycle... about 14 days from the first day of your last period. Does this fit your time frame? I wouldn't worry about STDs if you're sure you believe your boyfriend, but you should definitely take the advice of your doctor, even if it seems silly. It may give you peace of mind at least? Also, a yeast infection causes a very thick discharge, and isn't always contracted sexually. If you've been on antibiotics lately, this could be the cause. Good luck!
