Give up rights to child ?
I live in NC. For many many many reasons I would like my ex to give up his rights to my child. He never sees her. He doesn't know her at all. He pays $100 child support a month and it's ALWAYS late.

I have multiple reasons for wanting this. I'm just wondering if it can be done. And how? I want nothing from him.. no child support.. nothing. I just want it as if he disappeared! Do anyone know anything about it.. or can anyone tell me how I can find out. I have been told to go talk to a lawyer.. but I want to get some info on it first from online.

    Thank you

First, you cannot demand that he gives up his parental rights. If he does want to give up his rights to her that only pertains to the right to see her. It does not have anything to do with his still paying child support.

The only advantage you gain by him giving up his rights to her is if you wish to remarry and her hew new step dad adopt her. First ask him if he would like to do this before going ahead any further.

You can also ask for a consultation at an attorney's office to discuss your options. This usually costs around $50 per hour but ask about the cost before you make an appointment. You want to get an attorney who knows about Family Law.
