    GE Washer won't agitate
    I have a GE washer Model# GDSR4110T6WW that won't agitate.

It fills with water. Then when the agitating starts, the motor kind of sounds like its turning on and off. The agitator moves about an inch back and forth. I can move the dial to the drain/spin cycle and that works fine.

    Any ideas?

The agitator shaft splines may be worn. Remove it and inspect

    Thanks Doug,
Would the worn shaft splines cause the on/off sound in the motor?

Sorry, a correction to my problem.

The agitator is not moving at all during the agitation cycle. It kind of looks like its trying to move but it isn't.

OK, I've checked the spline shaft and it appears to be fine.
