My shower is on for about 3 min and never holds the heat. So I end up taking a quick as shower as fast as possible... not very relaxing. I have adjusted the water heater to the hottest setting available... this did nothing. It's not the water heater because I get out of the shower and the sink can get hot water instantly and for long period. It is a one handle turn on and only a shower... no bathtub... Any ideas?

I would consider on replacing the shower handle. That could be a problem. What type oh house do you have? Need more info. It could be that your pipes are not well insolated. I hardly see that being the problem. I look forward to your reply.

Brand name of the shower valve? Does it have posi-temp or skald-guard?: (That's about the only thing I can think of that would cause your problem)How old is it? Let's hear back from you. Tom

From what you have described the water heater is working great so Tom's look at the mixing valve is the right approach. Has it always been like this or just started recently. Come back and answer our questions the best that you can.

It's a delta, I have a relatively new condo. It's been like this since I moved in around August

Is this a tub/shower combo and if so how is the hot to the tub? Is the water hot and staying hot at all other faucets and tubs? If so I suspect your mixing valve is partially plugged or the anti-scald mechanism is installed improperly. Back yo you.

No just a shower... I took the scald-guard off and get hot water but I shouldn't have to turn up the temp every two min... where is the mixing valve... water heater or in the shower? The other shower isn't having this problem

The mixing valve is inside your shower wall behind the handle. When you move the knob you are moving the mixing valve. When you took off the scald guard you were touching the mixing valve. I suspect, since this is the only fixture with a problem, that you have some loose ot torn rubber flaps or washers in this valve. Do you know the brand or cal you post a pic. We can probably walk you through the steps to rebuild the valve.

I can rebuild the valve if I know exactly what part it is... it is a delta and I already replaced all of the o-rings... I think I will just replace the entire handle... thx for all the help everyone
