What to do about child support
I am very confused. The father of my son walked out on us, and moved from Colorado (where we are) to Kansas. I do not know how to go about getting child support. I left his name off the birth certificate because I did not want him to have rights to him. He was very abusive and would always tell me if I left him he was taking the baby. Now I am in need of that extra income. If I go after him for child support do I have to put his name on the B.C. I don't know what to do first.

I believe welfare will find him and go after him for child support. But if you want support from him he gains access to your child. Than if you don't want that ikts a court fight and you at best may get him to only be allowed supervised visits. But it's a real long process

If he ias not been proved to be the father, you file in court for a DNA test and prove him as the father. But he can file for visitation anytime he wants to anyway, just like you can child support. If he is abusive and you can prove it in court, you could require his visits to be supervised.

His name is not on the Birth certificate but he will be proved legally the father. His name on the birth certificate gives no special rights, once he is proved the father in court by DNA he will have all the rights just like his name is on the birth certificate. But he can go to court to prove this if he wants to also.
