    Replaced Socket, Light Now Odd
I just installed a new socket on my lamp. I previously had a three-way that got into the condition that it was just a one-turn lamp. It has not been three-way in a long time. So when I purchased this socket I purchased a one-way socket. Now that the socket has been replaced, the light seems odd. I can't pinpoint what's wrong with it, but it is really bugging me. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Odd, it what sense? When the old one failed it may have been in any of the three positions and that's what you got used to. The new socket can only give the lumens/wattage that you instal. Is it to bright/dim?

I seems to have a yellowish tint and a weird skew like it is coming out of the lamp completely different.

Did you remember to replace the old 3 way bulb with a new single element bulb?

The light was in such a state of disrepair for so long I wasn't even using a 3-way bulb anymore, but I did buy a new 200 watt bulb when the lamp was repaired.

I do know what's up with your lamp but it could be a different type bulb than you are used to. Some bulbs are now softer, pinker or whiter than the old bulbs. Manufacturers are try to duplicate natural light better.

That's a lot of bulb. Your light rated for that?

The lamp may have a label near the socket that states the max wattage, could even be on the shade.
